Priceline Reviews:

Priceline.com is a part of Priceline Group (USA) which is a dominant market leader in online travel and related services. This USA exclusive travel site offers Hotels, Cars, Flights, Vacation Packages and Cruise booking services. Prices are shown in US dollars.

Homepage offers conventional flight booking options like One-way, Round-Trip and Multi-Destinations with/without combination of Hotel and Cars. Most websites offers Flight and Hotel combinations but Priceline offers adding cars as well which is pretty good.  You can opt for ‘More Options’ to further define your requirements.

Name Your Own Price:

Priceline also offers their trade mark ‘Name Your Own Price’ and ‘Last Minute Flights’ products where you can bid a price in advance for your flight and they (claim to) find you a deal with 40-50% discounts.

Bottom part of Homepage has ‘Explore Flight Itineraries and Find Cheap Tickets’ sections with long list of predefined itineraries ‘to’ US and other cities around the world. Click on any itinerary and it shows you another long list of Round-trip fares from different parts of the world ‘to’ a city. It also indicates if prices are rising or dropping. In my view, this is a completely useless section and it would serve much better purpose if they turn it around to prices ‘from’ a particular city to different parts of the world. For example, I would love to know prices rising or dropping ‘from’ my location/departure city London to different parts of the world so I can grab a best deal and travel. It absolutely makes no sense for me to unnecessarily know about prices from 60 cities ‘to’ London!!

Search result page has all conventional ‘Filters’ like Stops, Departure/Arrival Time, Prices and Airline. Results are pre-sorted in single leg journeys (Departing Flights) but you can opt to Round-Trip view as well.  ‘Advance Flight Options’ can be found at the bottom right side of the page.

Just above the flight matrix, you will also see ‘Name Your Own Price’ and Flight+Hotel Packages tags.

On selection of an itinerary to buy, site leads you to a simple, hassle free checkout system. At this point, I love the option to pre-select your seats (Seat Assignments) for your entire journey. Mostly airlines offer this option but it is great to see Priceline.com offers it too.

Cruises:

Cruises booking is an exceptional feature offered by Priceline. Most popular booking site does not offer this feature. The Priceline Cruises offers many U.S. departure ports, including our most popular like Florida, Texas, California and New York, so if you’re looking to begin your journey close to home, you’ve come to the right place.

Cruise is the top way to vacation if you’re looking to visit the most extraordinary destinations around the globe at an incredible value, without the need to fly or drive. Climb aboard one of many world-renowned fleets and you’ll never go without exceptional dining and service, world-class entertainment, plus loads of more fun and exciting activities fit for all types of passengers. Add a shore excursion to your plans, and you may get 2 trips for the price of 1.

Improvements I would like to see Priceline.com does are:

  • Add different currencies
  • Standardize font size of results filters. Currently they are in 3 different sizes!
  • The logic of ‘Explore Flight Itineraries and Find Cheap Tickets’ should be remodeled to ‘from’ (instead of ‘to’)

Over all a great site if you are booking from USA.
